Meri Education began in 2007 as a test prep and tutoring company, writing its own curriculum and coaching students from private school admissions through college essays. The new meri keeps one-on-one tutoring at its heart and adds what kids need next: hands-on courses in building with AI.

Founder & CEO
Joan started Meri Education in 2007. Over fourteen years it grew to between 50 and 100 people, wrote twelve textbooks for the ISEE, SSAT, HSPT, SAT and ACT, and guided more than 1,000 college application essays. She went on to co-found Bumo, now Ellie, the AI network for childcare, camps and kids' activities. The new meri is where those two careers meet.
